3 Tips to Creating A Bridal Shower Atmosphere

Pop the bubbly she’s getting a hubby! Bridal showers are a sweet time to share, cherish, and make memories with the soon-to-be bride! In all the excitement, you offered to throw a bridal shower, and now your second-guessing your creativity and ability to pull this off. Planning any kind of event can carry a sense of stress, but it doesn’t have to if the right measures are put in place. One of the main elements of a bridal shower is setting the right atmosphere. You may have ideas swirling, or you're drowning in a sea of unknown details, either way, these three tips to creating a bridal party atmosphere are sure to help you pull off a bridal shower everyone will be talking about for years to come.

1. Vision

Luckily, most of the vision comes from the bride’s desire, so you won’t have to come up with it all on your own. Schedule some time, a couple of months before the shower, to sit down with the bride and discover what she is envisioning. If you’re unsure what your bride’s style is or how she would like to be celebrated, it is important to communicate with your bride and design an event around her vision and expectations.

All brides are different...some prefer something more low-key – drink champagne, eat yummy brunch foods, and open gifts. Some gals love a good “traditional” bridal shower with all the bridal games (who doesn’t love creating a wedding dress out of toilet paper?), the sweet treats, and all her closest girlfriends.

The color scheme, decor, and food will set the tone for the celebration, so consult with the bride on the vision she has for her shower. Does she want it to match her wedding colors? Does she want balloons? What about flowers and personalized napkins? What kind of food does she love?

Location, location, location! Will it be a his-and-hers backyard barbeque with the groom and his friends?  Or will it be at a tearoom with the bride’s closet friends and family? There are so many options – it can be overwhelming so it’s important to know what vibe the bride is going for.

2. Decor

Balloons, streamers, confetti, floral crowns  – you name it, it’s possible! The decor sets the tone for the event and there are so many fun ways to approach this. Balloon words as a photo booth backdrop is always a huge hit…who doesn’t love taking a photo memory home? Perhaps even a flower wall for the photobooth backdrop. Imagine every aspect of the shower and choose ways to implement your bride's style and/or favorite things into each detail.

The small details always go a long way and you don’t have to spend a lot of money on the little things. Take a walk around your home or shower venue; do you have small plants you could bring to add to the decor? Or maybe some picture frames with dating memories of the bride and groom. It’s easy to swap photos from existing frames for your special event. Think of the little details and creatively thinking outside the box is key to a beautiful shower!

3. Guest List

Your Miss is a soon to be Mrs. and that’s worth celebrating, so your guest list is important! Bridesmaids, family, close friends, and co-workers are usually at the top of the list. The best way to approach your bride’s guest list is to ask her for a list of people outside of the bridal party she would like to invite. Don’t hesitate to invite out of town guests, they are important to the soon-to-be-bride, and many times they will gladly make the trip to shower her with love!
